Hey, if you are wondering I am coming back soon. Catch up with me on twitter @andshespeak add me, tweet me, say something!!!
Last night I had the pleasure of meeting some of NY most interesting women, Girls in Tech. Girls in Tech hosted a mix and mingle last night at the Union Bar in Manahattan to kick off the Spring season. I decided to attended after seeing a tweet about it, until the subway made me sick. It took about an hour of me debating on whether I should go or not but, I am glad I did.
This would be the first meetup in the new city the last thing I need was to be a bore, especially being off my A game. However, I remembered the number one rule in networking, show your face. If you don’t stay long at least show up and support someone else. To my surprise after some fresh air I wasn’t feeling sick anymore and I was able to put on a smile and work the room. Introduce yourself to as many ppl as you can giving your elevator pitch, before you know it you will have a hand full of business cards. I remember @tarynp saying that it was important that you go with a purpose or an agenda. I recieved a lot of cards but I realized that everyone that I meet had not defined their purpose for attending the meetup. Needless to say of the many cards I recieved only a few were revelent. Ladies and Gentleman in everything you do have a purpose or an agenda.
If you wondering what, who, where, when then this video should give you some insight to how I feel right now.
be a blessing to others and the heavens will smile upon you. Sometimes it is hard to hear her words but I hear them and still get them.
speaking it into existence…
Don’t talk about it, be about it. Practice makes perfect, and when u fail u succeed. Learn from YOUR own mistakes. Nobody can teach u that!
I didn’t forget to update just was busy on yesterday. So day number #2 started out pretty much like day one Lemon water, and green tea. The juice of the day was focused on colon cleansing so we only have fruits.
2 apples 1 red delicious, and 1 gala
2 naval oranges without the skin
1 pomegranate
3 slices of pineapple with core in.
In my juicer this makes about a half of gallon. So it was plenty for me and enough for the family to have some. Throughout the day I ate pecan, and walnuts for protein, chips and salsa. I think I forgot to mention that the salsa was fresh. In a food processor I combine 1 garlic clove, 3 key limes, about 6 tomatoes on vine, 4 roma tomatoes, 1 onion, 1 green pepper, some cayenne pepper, a 1/4 cup of vinegar, and a teaspoon of sea salt.
For dinner steamed cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. I think dinner last night was the hardest for me because the family ate curry chicken that I made so I had the pleasure of inhaling all the wonderful aromas. However since today is th last day “Day #3″, I will be making up for not getting any curry chicken last night.
I think I should give a disclaimer I am not a nutritionist however I have medical experience and I am vet at cleansing. Before you embarking on such a cleanse you might want to consider these things. Cleansing is a way of ridding your body of toxins that we consume through eating of processed foods as well as under cooked meats such as steak or beef. The digestive system typically needs 2 hours to process any meal which is typical a normal serving so if you over eat you should actually wait an extra hour.
When you take on the cleansing process it is important that you start with your kidneys. This requires a great deal of water, cranberry juice without the sugar is also good for cleaning the kidneys. Once you have throughly flush your kidneys you move on to cleansing of the colon there are many ways of doing this and most cleanse the kidneys and colon at the same time. Any citrus fruit that is high in acid mixed with 80% water, fiber, lots of green leaf vegetables are good to help elevate waste. There is also the option to have colon cleanse professional but in my opinion cleansing is a life style change that you should do on your own and naturally. Last but definitely not least the liver should be cleanse. Carrots are great source for beta carotene, beets as well they are high in folic acid. Brocolli is a great source of vitamin B, C and folic acid. You may also want to increase your fresh garlic intake and one that is most common to eat is tomatoes and pepper all for the reason I have mention.
Please note that when you cleanse water is a common denominator for each steps so make sure you maintain a high level of water intake when taking this journey. Second because you are cleansing it is best to start the process when you have at least three days to stay in. I must tell you if you are a first timer you might experience some symptoms of feeling sick, this is due to the fact your body is handling toxins and your immune system is fighting the process. If you suffer from fatigue, back pains, high sugar cravings, and you eat a lot of red meat I recommend you cleanse often only because your body needs the support to help increase your longevity here on earth.
Again I am not a doctor so please do your own research to determine what works best for you. The list I provided is some of the things that I have learn through the years and can only speak from my OWN experiences.
So I am starting my yearly cleanse which includes, a very strict diet of raw fruits and vegetables. However, I have a hard time eating just veggies so I also will be juicing.
Today I started the morning with 32 oz of lemon aide without the sugar of course and a cup of green tea. A salad for breakfast which included lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion and a homemade dressing. I make sure to make enough salad dressing to last for a couple of salads. Here are the ingredients: 1/2 of distilled vinegar, 1/4 cup of virgin olive oil, 1 garlic clove, tablespoon of sea salt, 1/4 cup of lemon juice, fresh pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder.
For lunch I had green tea, more lemon water, and corn tortillas chips and salsa.
Dinner the family ate chicken fajitas so I at the veggies, saute onions and green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos on corn tortillas. With body cleanse juice that I put through the juicer 1 beet, 4 carrots, 1 apple, 1 cucumber, 3 small key limes, and one 1 lemon. This makes about 20 oz but I only drink about 10 oz today.
